Predator Free South Westland is made possible through the support and collaboration of many.

Department of Conservation

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is the government agency charged with conserving New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage. Since 2016, DOC has led the Predator Free 2050 mission as a way out of the cycle of suppression currently used to keep a lid on Aotearoa’s most harmful introduced predators.

DOC is a founding entity of Predator Free South Westland, and supports the project both with funding and with collaboration.

Zero Invasive Predators

Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) leads the predator elimination for the project.

ZIP is a non-profit organisation that has spent the past decade pioneering new tools and techniques to completely remove invasive predators from New Zealand’s mainland. ZIP combines R&D with on-the-ground implementation at scale to rapidly innovate pathways to protect Aotearoa’s native taonga.

Today, ZIP leads some of the most ambitious predator elimination projects in Aotearoa, unlocking significant benefits for nature, the economy and communities.
